A little about David Wilcox
David Wilcox, born in Montreal, Quebec in 1949 this Canadian Musician was raised in Toronto for the first part of his life. He first became interested in music at the young age of 6 when he first heard Elvis. A few years later Wilcox began playing guitar and was devoted to acoustic guitars. At the age of fourteen, the young Wilcox had his first show playing to a room of ex-convicts. His first electric guitar was a second hand Fender Telecaster he purchased from a pawnshop.
His first band audition was for “ The Great Speckled Bird” and stayed with the band for over 2 years. “The Great Speckled Bird” Did back up for many acts including Anne Murray. It was when the band headlined at Carnegie hall that Wilcox first really felt that he could “have a career in music”. Wilcox started and led his own band in the mid 70’s called “David Wilcox and the Teddy Bears” and they played in local (Toronto) venues. At the time Wilcox attempted to have a lot of showmanship playing shows with an oversized waxed mustache and a baggy suite.Wilcox kept this style until the early 80’s when he started his career as a solo artist releasing many albums over the years most recently “boy in the boat” (2007). He continues to tour and dates can be found on his official website (link below).Do the bearcat

These were the days back at the El Mocombo in the 70's where I would go and listen to David with Al and Peter Jarocki it seems like yesterday. I still live today to tell the story, but some of us are so blessed, but Albert Jarocki never made it - May he rest in peace!!
These are wonderful videos thank you Dale - all my love Murielle
